This intensive drawing course takes students through the foundational concepts of form and light. It will begin with the basics of linear perspective and the construction of form and then finish with concepts of chiaroscuro and the anatomy of light. This course is designed for beginner and intermediate artists looking to level up their rendering skills and put more believability into their work.
Course Outline
Module 1 | Form and Space
Core focuses: To understand form in 3D vs 2D space and the basic concepts of linear perspective, starting with one-point linear perspective and general terminology.
Module 2 | Linear Perspective and Light (Continued)
Core focuses: To understand two-point linear perspective and constructively draw the five forms.
Module 3 | The Basics of Shape and Form
To learn to sight-measure and break down complex forms into the five basic forms.
Module 4 | Simplifying Complexity
Core focuses: Learning to break down complex forms into the five basic forms.
Module 5 | Understanding Light and Value
Core focuses: Understanding the anatomy of light and the basics of light in perspective.
Module 6 | Basics of Reflection
Core focuses: Understanding texture and material.
Module 7 | Composition
Core focuses: Learning to design a composition using linear perspective, light, and space.
Module 8 | Rendering
Core focuses: Complete a full rendered drawing that showcases the knowledge learned in the course.
